Earth Society Goes for “The Hike”
“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir
Last August 16, 2019, the Earth Society Club went to the Sulads Comprehensive High School in Lumintao, Quezon, Bukidnon for an outreach program. Approximately 80 students attended this activity with the purpose of giving 160 pair of slippers for the students in the said school. Before leaving the campus ground, Dr. Rosita Carmelo led the group with a prayer that everyone may have a safe journey. The group left the campus around 3:00 pm and arrived at Lumintao around 5:00 pm. They prepared themselves for the ascent and Pastor Jimmy Adil, PhD, RGC led the prayer once more as they have to face the long trail ahead of them.
Together with the four supportive sponsors, namely; Dr. Rosita Carmelo, Mr. Osward Carmelo, Mr. Dale Dariagan and Mr. DouglasAlboria, the group walked with a heart of service. After the long and tiring hike, they finally arrived at the said school around 10 in the evening. The next morning, the group attended the Sabbath Service with gusto, and in the evening, selected Earth Society members led the social night.
The night was filled with songs and laughter as the members taught the students of the Sulads Comprehensive High School some action songs. Not only that, but the club organized a talents night where several ethnic groups performed songs to everyone and so did the club members. Adding to this special occasion, they gave out free pairs of slippers for the students in the Sulads Comprehensive High School. It was truly a special event for both the students and the Earth Society Club members. In their last day at the school, on Sunday, August 18, 2019, around 8 am, the group bid their farewell and just before they left the area, they all gathered together for a prayer led by Mr.Osward Carmelo. It was truly an enriching and rewarding experience for everyone.
