Recreational Activities Against Dangerous Drugs

Dangerous drugs as we all know, is the number 1 enemy of our society, since people under the influence of illegal drugs tend to commit unfathomable crimes. Our country’s President, Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is one of the many others who is earnest to totally eradicate the use of dangerous drugs in our country.

This week, Mountain View College, through the Guidance Counseling Center and the office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, conducted an activity entitled ‘Dangerous Drugs Awareness and Prevention Week’, with the theme “Let’s Develop Our Lives, Our Communities, Our Identities Without Drugs”. Dangerous Drugs Awareness and Prevention Week is an annual school activity that aims to raise awareness as well as to prevent the students from engaging into such kind of drugs.

Regarding the said activity, a Social Orientation (S.O) took place at the MVC Alumni Church last June 27, 2018. The speaker of the symposium is the SPUC 1000 Missionary Movement Coordinator, Pastor Eugene dela Peña. In his message, he said that every single one of us has our own addiction. It is not only from the use of illegal drugs, but it can be many things like behavioral addiction, cyber net and pornographic addiction. To him, addiction is when you give more time or interest on something. During the S.O, he reiterated that things like drugs are Satan’s medium in deceiving people. Furthermore, he emphasized that the only antidote to all our addiction is God and His words. The program ended by the closing prayer of Mr. Arwenn Berago.

Series of activities in line with the Dangerous Drugs Awareness and Prevention Week are set to happen beginning July 3-7, 2018, including a Fun Run, Midweek Program, Community Outreach, Basketball and Volleyball Tournament, and a Grand Social night. Winners of the competitions will be awarded cash prices.

This kind of activity is an enjoyable way not just to have fun, but at the same time gain knowledge as to what kind of drugs we should keep away from. For more information about the upcoming activities, you could checkout the bulletin boards in the campus or you could visit the Guidance and Counseling Center.
