Faculty and Staff Convenes for Colloquium 2017
Colloquium refers to an academic meeting where specialist addresses on a topic or a related topic and answers questions related to it.
The faculty and staff of Mountain View College held a three day colloquium on the days of July 27-29 2017. But instead of just a plain and straight forward colloquium, the faculty members innovated and made the meeting an event of which they can have fun and they can strengthen their bonds through activities. They devised a schedule where they can address their reporting, questions, and suggestions.
On Thursday, the 27th of July, they held the opening of the MVC faculty and staff colloquium. They started with the registration, followed by a devotional to thank the Lord and ask for protection throughout the day. An orientation and welcome remarks by the VPAA, Dr. Hope Aperocho followed. The attendees participated in team-building activities where they were formed into three groups.
Thereafter, the official opening of the MVC Faculty Colloquium 2017 and the Academic Year 2017-2018 started. The declaration was headed by our esteemed college president Dr. Gladden Flores. In the afternoon, they started the reporting concerning the welfare of the college. Right after the report and updates was the suggestion time where everyone was encouraged to write their notion of what they think will help the school. It was later followed by an election of the new set of officers for the faculty association and the housing committee members. A thanksgiving celebration also took place on the same day.
Day 2 started with a devotional and was followed by a faculty development session. The invited speaker was Lorenzo B. Dinlayan, DPA , the esteemed chairperson of the government affairs department of Bukidnon State University. Then came the open forum, recognition of the speaker, and a recap. In preparation for the Sabbath, the faculty and staff left the hall after lunch, but they gathered again for sundown worship for the welcoming of the Sabbath. It was celebrated by on-air music and a video presentation. That evening was also scheduled for communion service and washing of feet, and was concluded with an agape feast.
The Sabbath celebration for the faculty and staff was held at MT Oliverio Hall. The speaker for the holy hour was the Sabbath School Director from WMC, Pastor Arnel L. Benasahan. A feast for Sabbath lunch was held at the cafeteria. The Family Life Ministry Department facilitated the unifying of MVC families. A commitment and dedication ceremony with the charge of the college president, Pastor Gladden O. Flores sealed the event that afternoon. The evening program was slated for the honoring of the retirees who have worked hard for the school and for the ministry. It was followed by a fellowship dinner prepared by the food committee.
The fun part for relaxation and enjoyment that evening started at 7:0oo o’clock. They had social night which includes activities to strengthen the bond among faculty members. There was an MVC Got Talent segment where the faculty and staff showcased their talents and fun sides, which nowadays are sometimes suppressed by work and other responsibilities. That evening allowed them to gather together and laugh not as adults but as the children they once were. They laughed and cheered with glee and satisfaction in their hearts. They once again visited the joy of youth and living. The evening was made even more exciting because of the raffle draw where lots of prizes awaited them. So thus conclude the colloquium 2017.
